In just a few days history will be made one way or the other with the 2008 United States Presidential
Election. We will have either the first president of color or the first woman vice president. Many people
seem to be looking at these firsts and getting caught up in the novelty of them. The economy is a major
issue as well. With the recent stock market plunge and companies going bankrupt people are worried
about their financial security. While making history and the state of the econonomy should certainly be
of interest, there are other substantial questions many have regarding the next presidential candidate.
Some of the issues of interest that people may look to in order to make a decision on who to vote for
may be the candidate's view of abortion, stem cell research, and same sex marriage.
While searching Barack Obama's official website, http://www.barackobama.com for his stance on
abortion I find it as a subcategory under "Women's Issues". His website clearly states that he supports
abortion. Regarding the Roe vs. Wade decision his website says that "He opposes any constitutional
amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case." According to the Washington Post, Senator
Obama voted present 129 times on issues ranging from promoting school discipline to prohibiting sex shops near
places of worship. The Washington Post goes on to say that voting present on the abortion issues was Obama's way
of voting in favor of abortion without seeming to. The article stated that the Illinois branch of Planned Parenthood
gave him a 100% ProChoice Voting Rating, and that Obama and Pam Sutherland, chief lobbyist for the Illinois branch
of Planned Parenthood , had an understanding and in Pam Sutherland's own words "We worked on the 'present'
vote strategy with Obama."
John McCain, on the other hand, is prolife ,according to his official website, http://www.johnmccain.com .
McCain has given 'The Sanctity of Life' a category of its own under 'Issues' on his website. The fact that he has
given abortion its own category rather than lumping it under 'Women's Issues' as Obama's website did may
lead one to believe that it is an issue he is passionate about. National Right to Life, a well known pro-life
organization, endorses McCain and states that he has cast 31 pro-life votes since 1997. John McCain, who
with his wife Cindy adopted a little girl from Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh in 1993, has this
to say on the issue of abortion "At its core, abortion is a human tragedy. To effect meaningful change,
we must engage the debate at a human level."
Another issue of importance and often controversy is stem cell research. Stem cells are cells found in
preborn babies, children and adults. They can be harvested mainly from embryos, bone marrow, and
umbilical cord blood. Basically stem cells are cells that potentially hold promise for many ailments
because they have the ability to renew themselves and they can be grown into specialized cells. The
controversy regarding stem cell research is in regard to using embryos. There are individuals who object
to this type of stem cell research.
John McCain is one such individual. McCain says that he opposes intentionally creating human
embryos in a laboratory or obtaining human cells gestated in animals for use in stem cell research.
Instead, his website claims, he strongly supports funding for amniotic fluid and adult stem cell research,
as well as other scientific study that does not use human embryos.
Barack Obama's stance on stem cell research is vastly different from that of McCain's. In a press
release by Obama on April 11, 2007 he states that he "firmly believes and supports expanded research
of embryonic stem cells to combat disease."
Third, there is the issue of same sex marriage. Some Americans see nothing wrong with same sex
marriage. Some Americans are in favor of same sex marriage. However, some Americans view it as the
breakdown of the family.
Lesbian Life's About.com host Kathy Belge states that Obama is in favor of a civil but not legal union
between homosexuals. Belge says that Obama would let the individual states decide whether or not
same sex unions would be legal. According to Belge Obama also believes that homosexuals should have
the right to adopt children, as well as serve openly in the military. Also the Human Rights Campaign, the
largest national homosexual association, gave Obama a score of 89 out of 100 for his support of
homosexual rights in the year 2006.
John McCain's view on same sex marriage is the polar opposite of Obama's. McCain states on his
website that he believes that the institution of marriage is a union between a man and a woman. He
also states that he believes the family represents the foundation of Western Civilization and civil society.
Also, according to the U.S. Senate McCain voted for the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996, which does not
require states to recognize same sex marriages.
As you can see John McCain and Barack Obama do not see eye to eye on any of these three issues.
The one thing they do seem to have in common is their drive and determination to be the next
president of the United States.

Obama Voters
Obama Voters
This proves that poeple go to the poles blindly. Poeple will hear family and friends say who they are voting for and thats how they decide who to vote for. I can say personally people around me don't even know the issues about whats going on in america. 90% don't even care to know whats going on around us. And when the news came out a party broke out at my place of work. What happened to the days when we voted about the issues at hand. And then when the new hero came on TV to talk, he said that he wasn't going to do anything but start planning for his next term. So basicly he is going to do the same thing he did as a Sentor which was nothing. People wake up!!! We are paying this guy to just lay around the White House and do nothing while our country is going though tuff times. What about all the promises that was made to the American people. Reminds me of a used salesman. Promises the world and you drive off with a lemon. All I can say America is that you asked for it and now the whole country will have to pay for it. It will go down in the history books as history land mark in the making but for us that will have to live it , will be the day that America was conned by the greatest con man that has ever lived. The link below of Howard Stern is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

Blind Faith
Blind Faith
Just wanting to say a few words about blind faith. Lets take for example Barack Obama now just the name is a mouth full huh? But he is running for Presdent of the United States. He refuse to wear a U.S.A. flag or even show respect for falling soilders who gave their lives to give us the right to vote for this man in the begin with. Why just back in March 18, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA he said that the declaration of independence adopted July 4,1776 was left unfinished for future genetorations to fix or finish. I myself find this to be mostly wrong because mainly that was a different time and was meant for a totally different reason than he is trying to use it in his speech. And if he was smart enough to know his history on this historic mark he would know that Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert R. Livingston, and Roger Sherman was organized to "prepare a declaration to the effect of the said first resolution." The Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776. Most delegates signed the Declaration August 2, but George Wythe (Va.) signed August 27; Richard Henry Lee (Va.), Elbridge Gerry (Mass.), and Oliver Wolcott (Conn.) in September; Matthew Thornton (N.H.), not a delegate until September, in November; and Thomas McKean (Del.), although present on July 4, not until 1781 by special permission, having served in the army in the interim. So they weren't even all together to sign it the way history teachers in school would teach students. These gentlemen put their lives and family on the line just by signing it in the begin with so lets step back and show some respect ( remmeber it takes showing respect to get respect) or did momma never teach you that? Why would anyone have to try to use their ethnicity in order to get into office? Why not stick with the facts about whats going on today like gas prices, all the towns that the factories was the towns business or even livlihood gone and nothing replacing them, abortion, the war etc. To me these are more important then any ethnic issues from years past. I hear people around me talk about his pastor Jerry Wright the man Obama looked up to for what around 17 years. Well let me touch on this subject just a little. Better yet let me ask a question with a question, What is a building that preaches hate? Would that be a church of God or Jerrys house of hate? From everyone I've heard talked about this subject says its a church which personal suprised me. I've grown up and go to a church of love to turn the other cheek if you will not to talk about past things that no one can change. But not this pastor he teaches to hate those of a different skin color and hate for the very country he lives in. Now Obama says he doesn't agree with all his pastors teachings but he sit in his church for 17 years. So in those 20 years he alowed his family to grow up and listen to these teachings. People need to stop living in the past and work for the present because I for one think theres more to a future by looking forward and not looking at the past looking for justice. There is no price for what has happen in history and theres no going back then forward, All there is looking forward and going forward. My opion is that if we as a nation (USA) would just read our Bibles ,prey and walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ we as the human race wouldn't have to worry about dump things in the past but I would bet if we did that the future would be a whole lot better and brighter not only for us but our childrens childrens. Also personal I for one think that Obama has alot he is trying to hide and trying to use his skin color to do so.

Bailout Bill
A couple of weeks ago the financial industry went south with 700 million dollar lost in the stock market. And they turn to the goverment for help. Now my personal opinion is I think that it is a shame for the goverment to bail them out. The reasons are that they were putting poeple in homes that they know couldn't afford. So what do you think is going to happen? In our area alone we see mobile homes and manufactored homes with no one living in them because that same practice is going on or was going on here in our area. A couple of years ago a few poeple even went to jail for unlawful practices putting poeple in these homes. Creating fake credit accounts with companies that don't exist, having people get money from family members to say it was a gift ( I know one case that gift was 10,ooo dollars) , having poeple to sign titles to their cars over to the salesman who either sold them and keep the money or keeping the car themself. All one has to do is take a drive around town or some of the subdivisions and see for yourself all the homes not being lived in. I feel that this bailout will not benefit the average person , but rather the financial industry who were taking large amounts of money anyway. My question is how many of them are going to pay for what they did to people? They pretty much messed up these people's credit for life by saleing them homes that they couldn't afford. Sentor Howard Coble went on to say that Monday he voted no for the bailout bill but as the week went on he was getting email and phone calls from the people of North Carolina to pass the bill. The only people that more then likely doing this was people who are effected by this. My thing is if you are a owner of a business or even have a job, you know what you can afford or not. At least I believe most of us do. If you can add or subtract it isn't rocket science. Brad Sherman, (D-CA) of Financial Services CMTE, said that President Bush by going on TV lead poeple to believe that our country are in financial trouble. The only ones in serious trouble was the financial industries not america. I lean more to believe Brad Sherman when he says that America wouldn't be hurt over the financial troubles. But now I believe we will be feeling the financial strain because where do you think the now over 700 million dollars is coming from? To get the bailout bill passed here's what happened. It came with a few clauses. ABC call this section whats in the bill.
Whats in the bill?
1. Higher limit for FDIC guarnteed bank deposits- 100,000 to 250,000
2. Tax cridits for Research & Development
3. Tax credits for renewable energy
All this doesn't seem too bad, right? Well, there's more. This is the section ABC called deal sweeteners
Deal sweeteners?
1. 192 million for rum producers in Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands
2. 128 million for auto racing tracks
3. 10 million for film and television productions
What on earth are they thinking to allow this to go on? Why do we need to pay all those too? I don't own any stock in any of these or even support any of them. I've looked and thought even wondered why on earth are these even in a bill that is suposed to so call help america? I would be happy to hear some ideas and feed back on this. I even thank you ahead of time :o)
Okay back to the business on hand. The housing market has dropped 16% and is expected to drop 8% to 10% more. This bailout bill won't even come into effect for another 2 or 3 months at the least or at the latest 6 months. Why this long for something that is supposed to help america? Now that is going to be a question I feel we are going to have to explain to not only our kids but also our grandchildren. And on top of all this poeple think it will all happen over night. This has been coming for years. 700 million dollars just doesn't happen overnight. Come on I can't buy that. You mean to tell me that something couldn't have been done before it got that big? You can read about this and even watch ABC news on this at this website :http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/financial_meltdown_regulation
Okay now about the jobs in america, according to ABC news as of last month 9 million people are without jobs. Another question I have is what could the goverment do about this problem that is affecting each of us. If we could afford over 700 million dollars to bailout the finncial market we should be able to do something for these people. To me that is a real poeple that touches home. Come on America let me know what you think?
